Our Research
The HKU Safe Autonomous Systems Lab pioneers the core science of trustworthy autonomy. We develop the foundational theories and algorithms to ensure robotic and AI systems, from self-driving cars to robotics, operate with safe and robust performance in uncertain, dynamic environments. Our mission is to bridge the gap between advanced capability and critical assurance, building autonomous systems that society can safely adopt and trust.

Safe Planning & Interaction
Developing planning with safety-critical feedback control for guaranteed performance

Critical Digital Twins
Leveraging generative AI to simulate and validate systems where real-world data is scarce

Physical AI-Agent Deployment
Embedding rigorous safety principles into applications, accounting for edge-end constraints.

Human-Robot Interaction
Enabling proactive, human-aware frameworks for safe and socially compliant collaboration in shared spaces.

Amazing Things for You
Always write benefits over features. Mention all the benefits or services with some real examples. Focus on how you can help and benefit your user. Use simple words so that you don’t confuse people. Say as much in as few words as possible.
Speak directly to users using you not I or we.
